Kayama Enterprises Ltd 5th Anniversary Party
Celebration of Continuous Growth and Future Expansion


Founded in year 2000, Kayama Enterprises Ltd has expanded by exporting Sashimi grade Albacore Tuna to Japan. This year 5th anniversary party was held in Sutton Place Hotel on November 5, 2005.

Smooth expansion of business by supplying high quality product that Japanese market endorsed

President Doug Yokoyama & CEO Daniel Leung established Kayama Enterprises Ltd in September 2000. The core business is to export Sashimi grade Albacore tuna to Japan. Rei Miyamaoto, the party’s Master of Ceremonies is the only employee at that time.

Albacore Tuna caught in British Columbia have high oil content due to the low seawater temperature. Compared to the regular tuna sold in Japan, the color of the albacore tuna is whiter in color. It was unknown whether Japanese will accept this type of tuna. Extensive marketing research was done and with strict control from fishing till export to maintain the highest quality of the fish. The export volume has greatly expanded in the last five years. In year 2002, they were awarded the 2002 British Columbia Export Award. This year sales have hit more than 10 millions Canadian dollars and the peak number of employee have reached 90 including part time.

Future Expansion

Doug Yokoyama was presented with a question regarding the past 5-year’s success and the reason for this celebration. " The business have been overly successful with unbelievable growth for the past 5 years. It is about time we need to re-evaluate our objectives and set new target to improve the company."

Party filled with Japanese style celebration

The party play host to trading partners, Financial Cooperates, Law Firm and company staff with over 90 people attending the party. Daniel Leung was greeting guest in Japanese Hakama Style Kimono saying, " In Japan, when a boy becomes 5 years old, they wear what I am wearing today to celebrate for long living and prosperity". This is a traditional celebration by the term "Sichi-Go-San" in Japan. The party begins with the traditional "Tai-ko" Japanese Drum lead by Mr. Honma Shinobu. Next was the opening speech by the President Doug Yokoyama. In the speech, he emphasis on the importance of building a strong and lasting relationship with every party. Without this, Kayama Enterprises cannot exist as is today.

The next event was the "Kagami Biraki" and a toast of Japanese Sake was raise by Daniel Leung. Soon after, the dinner began. During the dinner, we can see both Daniel Leung and Doug Yokoyama going around the tables and sincerely talking to each and everyone of the guest. You can sense and feel the strong relationship both have establish throughout the years. With performance from "Shami Sen" Japanese guitar and Classic Guitar during the dinner, everyone is having the best of time during the dinner.

At the end of the ceremony, the chairman Mr. Yoshida Takayuki (who joined last year to advise business development) step up with the closing speech and said. " We must work hard to provide all our customers with the best services and highest quality product, this will gain the good image and trust of the company. Please understand our goal and provide us with your utmost support to Kayama Enterprises Ltd."

The ceremony ends with the traditional Japanese "San Bon Jime" lead by both Doug Yokoyama and Daniel Leung.
